Most of areas in Sunchang, located at the southeastern tip of Jeollabuk-Do on the Korean peninsula, are mountainous.
Every mountain boasts a scenic masterpiece including Gangcheon Mountain, the first provincial park in Korea managed by the Sunchang-Gun government, to the west, and Hoemun Mountain, a fierce battleground during the Korean War, to the east.
Fertile farmland stretches along the large and small tributaries of Seomjin River to the east and the south. A clean region that maintains and protects its natural resources, the longevity of the residents of Sunchang is the highest in Korea.
